Greater Houston Stairlifts has been serving the Galveston community since 2007.  Since then, we have sold many types of stairlifts. We only sell products from manufacturers that have proven to us that quality matters because we know how important it is for your stairlift to operate when you need it.  You can count on us to keep your stair lift moving.  Galveston is especially prone to weather damage.  We only stairlifts designed to withstand the elements anywhere on the island or along the Gulf Coast.  All of our installations are backed by a 1 year labor warranty.

Types of Stairlifts

Rack & Pinion Drive Stairlifts

Greater Houston Stairlifts only recommends this type of stairlift.  It is a system that is has been proven to have the most reliability and the least expensive repairs.  The pinion always rotates on the rack in the same place and is the only moving part for most models.  To see the different models we have to offer, visit our Types of Stairlifts page.

Cable Drive Stairlifts

Greater Houston Stairlifts does not recommend these types of units.  These stairlifts require a maintenance that the user cannot normally perform.  Cables need to be tightened and the wheel channels require a cleaning and a relubrication every 6 months, if serviced correctly.

Worm Drive Stairlifts

These types of stairlifts have plastic drive components that require compression to keep them together.  We do not sell these units but we do get customers in need of service and their most common complaint has been a loud popping every few feet.

Friction Drive Stairlifts

This is a new type of drive system for stairlifts.  From a dealer’s perspective, it has too many moving parts.  4 motors drive the unit versus 1 motor on other types of stairlifts.  Also, the unit is held together with compression springs.  The contacts on the unit are as frail as paperclips, leading to power failures and battery replacement services.
